Wandering But Not Lost

Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

July 9, 2024

Tuesday morning we were up early and ready to explore. We drove to Yellowstone and then got stuck in traffic trying to get in. It turns out there was a buffalo causing a traffic jam! Once we were inside the park we kept our eyes open for wildlife.

We made it to Grand Prismatic Spring and took the trail through the woods to get to the main event. There were several springs to explore and they were so beautiful. The water was the most beautiful blue and you could see how hot it was and how it had affected the land around it.

After exploring Grand Prismatic Spring we headed down to Old Faithful. We had just missed the eruption so we hung around the area and explored the visitors center while we waited for the next eruption. We were able to learn why the geysers explode and how they are able to predict them. We also learned about how to be safe in the park, especially around wild animals and we learned about some of the animals that are important to the ecosystem.

Finally it was time to go witness Old Faithful’s eruption. It did not disappoint! It was so cool to watch! The kids were so amazed!

We had wanted to visit the lower falls but the kids were getting tired. We decided to head back to the cabin and spend some time at the campground which was totally worth it.
