Paducah, Kentucky
June 30, 2024

Paducah, Kentucky was only a couple hours from Nashville which was nice. Vinny decided on a whim that we should check out a bourbon distillery so we found a really neat one on the way. It was part of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail but is family owned and very small. The husband is a veteran and the distillery is named after his wife. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all of our questions. The children loved playing with the farm cats and getting some kitty love because they are missing Sammy so much. The tour ended with a tasting and it turns out I still don’t love bourbon but luckily Vinny did.

Just so you know, Paducah is a hidden gym! This quaint little town was such a breath of fresh air after all the chaos of Nashville. We were so overwhelmed in Nashville and were glad for the drastic change of pace. We stayed on the Ohio river and as you can tell from the photo, the sunset was stunning. We woke up this morning and I took the kids out to roller skate and scooter around the beautiful sidewalks while Vinny worked. Once he got off, we took our picnic to a beautiful spot overlooking the river and had the most perfect lunch.

We knocked around town and visited several little shops. The town was very empty and not all of the shops were open on Mondays. There were about 65 murals on the walls depicting the history of the town. They were so fascinating to read. I personally love any city that has cobblestone roads, so they were a huge plus for me. We finished our visit in a cute, local coffee shop before heading to our next stop. If you are ever in the area and want to experience a slow paced day, Paducah is just the place for you.
