St. Louis, Missouri
July 2, 2024

What an exhausting day! We arrived in Missouri last night and crashed because we knew today was going to be busy. We visited the St. Louis Arch this morning and learned about some U.S. history at the museum. This is the second time I have ridden to the top, but the first for everyone else. The entire system is very efficient and they get you in and out in a very timely manner. You ride to the top in these little pods with five stool-like seats in them. If you are claustrophobic, I wouldn’t recommend this experience though. It only takes a couple minutes to get to the top and once you are there they give you about ten minutes to check out the view. The view is absolutely stunning! I was fascinated by the architecture and idea behind the “Gateway to the West.”

Now, because we are absolute lunatics, we took the advice from some random people in the elevator and added the St. Louis Zoo to our agenda. The zoo itself is free and only cost $20 for parking. Even though it was a lot of fun, we were exhausted by the time we left. I was really hoping the polar bear would be out, but the heat was too much for him and he was nowhere to be found. However, the hippos made up for it!

After our visit to the zoo we headed back into town for a riverboat ride on the Mighty Mississippi. We were able to see the city from the water and learn a little bit more about it. The breeze was lovely when it was there, but it was HOT when it wasn’t.
Now here we are, almost 20,000 steps later driving almost 4 hours to Kansas where I am sure we will all crash hard!
