Wandering But Not Lost

Route 66: The Mother Road

July 23, 2024

We were staying in Williams, Arizona off Route 66 so we took advantage of the area while we were there. We road the Canyon Coaster, which was Louie’s first roller coaster. It was so fun to fly down the mountain among the trees. Then off we went on our Route 66 adventure. We drove some on the mother road but realized that we could get to our destinations much faster via I-40. We stopped at various stops along Route 66 for a good photo op. We saw the Twin Arrows and Meteor Crater. One of the arrows was gone and the Meteor Crater was an unexpected, amazing stop. We stood on the corner in Winslow, Arizona like the Eagles, saw The Jackrabbit, dinosaurs and the Wigwam Motel.

Next we headed into the Painted Desert and the Petrified Forest. It was all so fascinating to see, especial the trees that had turned to stone.

We finally made it to New Mexico. Time for laundry and bed before more adventures tomorrow!
