Week 1: Oak Island

The first leg of our trip was in Oak Island with family. This is always a special time for us to disconnect and reconnect.
We arrived in Oak Island on Saturday and spent an entire week full of sunshine and smiles with Vinny’s side of the family. Before we all had children, we used to talk about being able to take vacations together and how special it would be to make these memories for our children. I didn’t grow up with a big family, so it is so special to have all these children running around laughing and playing all day. We had a total of 20 people in the house and it was LOUD! Even with all the noise the adults were still able to spend some quiet time together.
Throughout the week we spent a lot of time swimming in the pool, playing on the beach or sitting in the hot tub. The kids were even able to have night swims which was new this year. We walked on the pier, fished, rode bikes A LOT and ended most nights playing games. We ate ice cream and yummy gelato and had way too many snacks. We got sunburned and tan and enjoyed every second of it. We enjoyed meals together almost every night and coffee together most mornings. The men were able to have a kid free day and went golfing, then the women had a kid free day in Southport. We ate, drank, shopped and simply enjoyed each other’s company.
We are now headed off on our next adventure with sun kissed skin and lots of smiles…
