Nashville, Tennessee
June 29, 2024

Our trip to Tennessee was fast paced and full of fun. After about a six hour drive we finally made it to Nashville. Luckily, we didn’t hit too much traffic so the drive was relatively easy. Our first stop was The Parthenon which is a replica of the one in Greece. Louie was blown away by the architecture and the history of the Parthenon. Inside this massive building was an art museum and a 40 foot statue of Athena. The smaller figure on her hand was of Nike and was over six feet tall. She was the definitely the highlight of the museum. However, coming in a close second were the props that were used in Percy Jackson. Both kids loved reading it and then watching it. Part of the story is set at the Parthenon and being able to see part of the actual script was awesome!

ALL THINGS TAYLOR SWIFT!!
When you have a Swiftie in your house, you try to find as many Taylor Swift related things as you can. On Saturday we wandered around Centennial Park and found the bench and the willow tree that were placed there for her. On Sunday we visited the Country Music Hall of Fame where we explored the Taylor Swift Education Center and saw several of her outfits and instruments. Of course no trip to Nashville is complete without locating Taylor’s hair in the Legend’s mural. In 2020 she was replaced by Brad Paisley, however, you can still see a piece of her hair in the mural.

Of course, we didn’t just see Taylor Swift memorabilia while visiting the museum. Seeing so many clothes, awards, records and accessories from the country music stars was fascinating. I was particularly fond of the Minnie Pearl, Hee Haw and Dolly Parton stuff. It brought back fond memories of my grandparents and watching them on t.v. I highly recommend a visit to the Country Music Hall of Fame if you are ever in Nashville, even if you aren’t a huge country music fan.

After leaving the museum we wandered around Broadway and took in all the sights and sounds. We had attempted to visit the Broadway strip Saturday night, but it was so packed you couldn’t even get through. Coming back on Sunday afternoon was a much better idea. However, since we didn’t end up eating on the strip Saturday night, we found a fun pizza place called Wedge Pizza which happened to be the place to be before the Nashville SC game against Miami. Lucky for us, Louie was in his soccer gear and was repping Charlotte FC.
We were able to see Ryman Auditorium which was the original Grand Ole Opry as well as the actual Grand Ole Opry. And of course I found a Margaritaville. I have taken this same photo in front of every Margaritaville I have encountered for the last 15 years. By the time we left Nashville we were all hot and tired and ready to relax. However, we weren’t done with our day yet…
